At Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, we believe true conservation happens on two fronts—by speaking up for public lands and waters and by showing up to care for them firsthand.
Stewardship is the counterpart to BHA’s policy arm. We harness the power of our grassroots volunteer network to improve habitat, ecosystem health and water quality across North America through both staff and volunteer led projects.
Our goals are twofold: to improve the health and resilience of fish and wildlife habitat on public lands and waters and to maintain and improve access to these places for current and future generations to hunt, fish and recreate.
We work hand in hand with agency partners from the federal to local levels to increase workforce capacity, expedite project timelines, maximize positive conservation outcomes and connect people to the wild lands and waters we advocate for.
From the grasslands, to the coastal wetlands, the forests, to the sagebrush steppe and everything in between, BHA staff, volunteers, and valued conservation partners are showing up to ensure we have healthy habitats and abundant populations of fish and wildlife for generations to come.
Join a BHA boots-on-the-ground stewardship project, meet fellow Public Land Owners, and be part of a growing community that is standing united for our wild places.
